Texas duo make some healthy comparisons at ARI
Nursing students to spend two weeks checking out hospital departments as part of exchange

NURSING students from Texas are observing first-hand the differences in the Scottish health system during a visit to Aberdeen this week.
Houston Baptist University students Evelyn De Leon and Christin Handy arrived in the north-east on Sunday and will spend two weeks touring various departments of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, including intensive care and accident and emergency.
The trip is part of the Grampian Houston Nursing Exchange, which is organised annually by the Robert Gordon University and the Grampian Houston Association.
During their stay in Aberdeen, the pair are being looked after by RGU nursing students Ryan Whyte, 20, of the Spital, Aberdeen, and Susan Naysmith, 25, of Crown Cottages, Stuartfield.
Mr Whyte said: “As well as the clinical visits and observational trips the girls are making, there are also social events with the Grampian Houston Association.
“On Sunday we’re taking the girls to Edinburgh, to show them the sights and the castle.
“I’m already really excited about our trip to Houston in October.
“It will let us see the differences in the American and Scottish healthcare systems.”
Co-ordinator Leanne Morrison said: “Internationalisation is an important goal for both the nursing profession and education more generally, and it is fantastic that the exchange is now recognised as both an academic and cultural opportunity.”
